Obituary Rev. Ted Davey Memorial Service
A memorial service to celebrate the life and work of Rev. Ted Davey will be held at Kingston Road United Church on Sunday, September 25, at 7 p.m.
All are most welcome to attend. A reception will follow.
Ted was the minister of KRU for 20 years and grew up in the area. The committee is also asking for your memories of Ted, copies of photos, and the loan of any of Ted's art work that you may have.

GILCHRIST, Rev. Dr. Thomas Gray, B.A., B.D., M.A., Dr. of Ministry, 1926 - 2011
The Rev. Dr. Thomas Gilchrist of Edmonton passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the age of 85 years.
Left to mourn are his loving wife of 60 years Kathleen and five children; Stephen (Deborah) of Toronto, Heather (Ed) Martinson of New Norway , Alberta, Peter (Janna) of Edmonton, Dianne (Kris) Gilchrist-McCollum of Edmonton, Andrew of Red Deer and close family members Gay (Stu) Mehta of Edmonton, eight grandchildren; Kenton Gilchrist (Sarah Douziech), Lara Gilchrist, Davin (Erin) Martinson, Alana Martinson (Jonas Fiechter), Andrea Martinson, Dylan Gilchrist (Georgiana Jefferys), Emily Gilchrist and Miranda McCollum, also four brothers; David (Margaret) Gilchrist of Didsbury, Ken Gilchrist of Sherwood Park, Ian (Joyce) Gilchrist of Yellowknife, N.W.T. and Rae Gilchrist of Edmonton as well as many other relatives, extended family and friends.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Dr. William Sidney and Frances Harriet Gilchrist and sister Betty Gilchrist in 1970.
He will be interred at a later date in the New Norway Cemetery.

Family News Rev. Alfred Boettcher
Alfred Boettcher passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 around 6:30 pm at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre. Please be in prayer for his wife, Katharina, and their two sons and their families in Japan. Alfred and Katharina's sons are planning to arrive over the weekend to be with their mother. Memorial plans have yet to be finalized.
Pastor Alfred Boettcher was a United Church minister before taking over a ministry in Japan for more than 20 years. Upon his retirement re returned to Toronto and attended the Deutsche Evangelums congregation (German United Church) and helped out as a pulpit supply.

DAVIDSON, Reverend Richard H.N. - Peacefully at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at age 97, beloved husband of the late Elfa Veitch. Loving father of Richard (Dorothea) and Paul (Beverley). Dear grandfather of Richard A., Erin (Ryan), Egan and the late Liam. Great-grandfather of Sophie and Daniel. Brother of Carolyn Flynn (Wes), Craig (Helen) and E.J. Omand (Bill) all predeceased. Also survived by his nieces, nephews and many friends. During his many years of ministry with the United Church Reverend Davidson put emphasis on congregational leadership and pastoral care. He also assisted the Church by serving in a variety of capacities both nationally and internationally. Every summer Richard always looked forward to sharing special times with family and friends at his favourite spot - The Mazinaw. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 29th at ST. ANDREW'S UNITED CHURCH, 117 Bloor St. E. (east of Yonge) until time of service in the church at 11 a.m. interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Obituary Reverend Donald Ray
The Rev. Dr. Donald G. Ray, who served as General Secretary of The United Church of Canada from 1975 to 1983, died on Friday, Dec. 17 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. He had been hospitalized for a week due to the effects of terminal liver cancer. His wife, Joan Dewar, and daughter, Judith, were with him.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at Donway Covenant United Church. Please hold Don's family in your prayers during this difficult time.

RAY, Donald Gordon - Reverend Donald Gordon Ray, DFC, B.A., DD, born January 1918, died peacefully on December 17, 2010 after a short illness, cared for by family and staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by his wife Mary and brother Jack, he will be lovingly missed by his children Judith (Fred), Ian, and Duncan (Christine) and wife Joan and her children Andrew (Takako), Jennifer (Dave), and Sarah (Andy). He was loved by many friends, nephews and nieces, and Joan's grandchildren, and the many people he met in his life. As a flight lieutenant during WWII, Don was a navigator in the RAF. He returned after the war to finish studies and was ordained as a United Church minister in 1946. He left his mark in Berwyn, AB, Kettleby, ON, and Dauphin and Winnipeg, MN. He was not only a wonderful pastor, but was also committed to human rights and interfaith dialogue, and forged many connections because of it. On retirement, he continued to provide leadership and ministry to many and was a much loved Minister Emeritus at the Donway Covenant United Church. He had time for community groups, was generous to many charities and was loved by his family not only as a husband and father but also as a mentor. A celebration of Don's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donating time or resources to a charity of your choice would be the remembrance of him. Arthur Charles Dayfoot passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on Monday, November 22, 2010. Art was born in 1915 in Guelph, Ontario and grew up in Georgetown. During his undergraduate studies at Victoria College he was a founding member of the Campus Co-op Housing. He attended Emmanuel College from 1940-43. A year after his ordination he left Canada to serve the Church of Christ in China, under the Board of World Mission of the United Church of Canada, getting stuck en route both in South Africa and India because of WWII. He worked in China from 1945-50, first attending language school and then being posted to Fowling. While in China, he met and married Bessie Julien, who had come to China under the Women's Missionary Society. The first of their five children was born in China. When Art and Bessie had to leave China due to the Revolution, they went to England for a year, where Art worked on his Th.M. at Cambridge. He was then posted to Trinidad, serving the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad and Grenada from 1952-74. From 1961-70 he was the principle of St. Andrew's Theological College in San Fernando. After retiring from the mission field, Art was the minister at Regent Park United Church in Toronto (1975-77) and Heritage York Pastoral Charge in York Presbytery (1977-81). During retirement he worked as pulpit supply throughout the Brampton area. After many years of work, he completed his Th.D. in 1982 from Emmanuel College and the Toronto School of Theology. In 1999, he published his doctoral thesis as "The Shaping of the West Indian Church 1492-1962" and in 2004 published "Bibliography of West Indian Church History.

The memorial service will be held at Bloor Street United Church, 300 Bloor St. W, Toronto, at 2pm on January 15, 2011.
Obituary Helen Stewart
Helen was a former Scarborough Presbyter. She died suddenly August 16th at Chester Village where she had been living for over 2 years. Helen was an active member of Zion Wexford United Church for many until moving into the Senior's Residence at the Church of the Master where she became a member. She was active in the United Church Women at Zion Wexford, was the first President of Toronto Scarborough Presbyterial United Church Women, and was still a member of Presbyterial as her church's representative to Fred Victor Mission. She had been an active member of Presbytery, was a member of the Zion Bridge Club and the Soroptimist Club of Ontatio. She was recently elected Treasurer of the Chester Village Residents Committee. Helen was honoured by Fred Victor Mission for her many years of dedicated voluntary service there. She will be sadly missed by her sister Doris Stewart and the many friends she made during her 94 years.

Obituary Reverend Ronald Winson Arkwright
Ron began his ministry as a student in Blind River, Ontario where he me his wife Doris. They were avid sailors. Ron played the violin with the Etobicoke and North York Symphonies, Ron served churches in Huntsville in the GTA and the former Dufferin Peel Presbytery. He also worked as a teacher.

Elizabeth was the loved daughter of the late Eleanor (Pollock) and Eric Sabiston of Perth; she will be sadly missed by her brother Peter and his wife Amelia, her sister Cynthia Sabiston, Peter and Amelia's daughters Taunia and her husband Ben Meireles and their son Tyler Luis and Mandy and her husband Cameron Pelton and their daughter Ava Amelia all of Ottawa. She will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles and cousins of both the Sabiston and Pollock families and many good friends. Beloved father of Jacqueline and Fred, Lynnette and Dave, Dave and Velissa. Adored Grandpa of Katherine, Madeline and Elijah, Aisling. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Velma Dalton. Loved son-in-law of Bill and Gladys Erz. Family and friends may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Rd., Scarborough, ON (between Eglinton and St. Clair Aves. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 2pm at Northminster United Church (30 Sunset Blvd., Peterborough, ON). The burial will be held privately on Saturday morning. FRANCES MARY LISSAMAN (1932 - 2010) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear Fran. Frances passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 20th 2010. Survived by her husband Douglas and children Mary (Steve Adams) and Tom (Joanna Bancroft). Graduate of Havergal College and the University of Toronto (Phys Ed). Fran was a caring and loving friend and neighbour to many people and a valued member of Rosedale United Church and Bloor St. United Church. A funeral celebrating Fran's life was held on Monday, January 25th at Rosedale United Church.
