Marriage Policy Checklist

Identify whose policy it is (i.e. name of the church/pastoral charge)
Keep the statement brief
Name who it is for, not who it is against

In addition to a brief statement might wish to include information about:
•Brief theological / pastoral statement about marriage
•Requirements for participation in a marriage preparation course
•It is a service of worship, reference to God, what needs to be included in vows
(UCC preference – statement about life-long intent)
•Where services can take place (church, other location, outside…)
•Fees (how much, to whom, when are they due)
•Membership requirements (only members?  Adherents?  Others?)
•Floral arrangements
•Music options
•Option of publishing banns (must never have been married, members of the congregation – shared at least twice before the ceremony)
