What is participatory democracy? It is engagement in the political process, which can include efforts to influence public opinion on a matter of public policy. This includes: voting in elections, meeting with and writing to elected representatives to discuss issues, engaging with elected representatives and parties to develop goals and directions for our society, and engaging with other citizens in shaping the goals and directions of our society....click for more info

Why SO VOTE!
Over the past several years, fewer and fewer Canadians have been voting. The last federal election had the lowest turnout in 75 years. The last Ontario election had one of the lowest rates of any province - only 56.9% of eligible voters. And turnout is often worse among groups who are poor, disadvantaged and marginalized. SO VOTE! aims to remind people that elections can directly affect the things that matter most to them. This non-partisan project tries to highlight issues that are of vital concern to low-income people, and others who are disadvantaged or marginalized.
